5 string 'Anicent Banjo'

Banner.jpg

Our Xalams are all made in the Artisanal village at Soumbidieume , Dakar. We have found the build quality to be excellent as well as the sound quality and playabiltiy. The standard tuning is around C2 C1 F1 D2 E2

There is a clip here which give some background to the instruments.

The Xalam is constructed from a bleached and treated goat or sheepskin stretched over a hollow dimbah hardwood body , nylon strings tied with cotton to the softwood bridge. The strings are tied to the stick neck with leather ties. Once tuned they are relatively easy to get a tune out of for someone who plays some guitar or especially banjo, they are also hard to put down!

Xalam GBP 70.00 P+P to E.U./ U.S.A GBP 15.00
